We hope that the information contained within this website will answer many of your questions concerning our piano and strings competition. Our goal is to provide you with the information you seek, to enable everyone to have an enjoyable, stress-free and successfull event.

Basic Information
about the Competition
Competiton for:
Elementary Division - School Grades: 1-4, Time Limit: 5 minutes.
Intermediate Division - School Grades: 5-8, Time Limit: 8 minutes.
Advanced Division - School Grades 9-12, Time Limit 12 minutes.
Adult Division - Age 19+(includes collegiate), Time Limit 10 minutes.

Entry Application Deadline: March 21st, 2013
Competition Date: Sunday, April 21st, 2013
Winners recital: Friday, April 26th, 2013 at 7:30 pm. The winners recital will take place at Montgomery College, Music Bldg., Recital Hall.
Judges: The judges, along with their biographies, will be posted shortly.

Please note the following:
Accompanists are not provided for the competition for string players. TEACHERS ONLY will receive notification of competition performance times approximately 2 weeks prior to competition. Teachers of students selected to perform in Winners’ Concert will be notified in a timely manner.
Repertoire:
Competitive sections of each division require 2 contrasting memorized pieces.
Non-competitive sections of each division require 2 contrasting pieces, but memorization is not required. Written evaluations for all students, competitive and non-competitive, will be sent to teachers. Strings may perform with or without accompanists. The competition does not furnish accompanists.
Application fee per student per event: $20 when applying on-line or $21 when applying through mail (all fees nonrefundable).
All checks must be drawn on teacher’s account and made out to “NPSM.”
All parent checks will be returned and student will not be registered.
Students may play in more than one category. For example, a student may perform in both competitive and non-competitive divisions or may play in both a piano AND string event.
Performance times:
Individual times will be assigned to each individual student and will be mailed to teachers approximately 2 weeks before competition.

Work requirement for teachers: NONE!!!
Teachers may accompany string students. Please do not have students contact us directly. Only questions from teachers will be answered.
Competition Information and Results will be posted on this website in a timely manner so please check back daily.
If you choose to mail application and payment, instead of using our on-line entry/payment form) a one dollar administration fee is required for EACH ENTRY mailed ($21.00 per student). Please mail applications to:
